Our commitment to sustainable development is embodied in a corporate policy statement and a company-wide initiative that fosters state-of-the-art training, communication and knowledge-sharing, and relevant staff accreditation. PB offices in the U.K., Singapore, and New York are certified to the ISO 14001 environmental standard, and other PB offices are developing plans for certification.

PB actively promotes sustainability within our industry. We are a Full Sustainable Development Charter Signatory of the International Association of Public Transport (UITP). As a charter member, we are committed to seeing that “the development of the public transport sector remains sustainable in terms of its social, economic and environmental impact.” PB is also a member of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA).

Our staff includes more than 45 LEED Accredited Professionals and we are participating in several LEED-registered projects. The USGBC’s “Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)” program is the U.S. standard in sustainable building design. PB also has two BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) Accredited Staff in the U.K. and a Green Star Accredited Professional in Australia.

But the real nature of PB’s commitment is in the “green” thinking our planners, engineers, architects, and construction management professionals apply on real-world projects—projects that save energy, recycle materials, protect and restore the environment, and promote healthy communities
