The PlaceMaking group’s urban design expertise focuses
on the form of “place”—how individual physical
components contribute to the whole urban built environment,
creating a community of lasting value. Our interdisciplinary
urban design approach is grounded in New Urbanist and smart
growth principles, incorporating urban design, architecture,
landscape design and mobility, and balancing the community’s
vision and historical context with the need to accommodate
growth.
We intersect transportation and land use to create people-friendly environments that have a lasting urban identity and are sensitive to the context in which they function. Streetscapes are designed to move people as well as vehicles. Gateways and transit stations are designed to create a sense of awe upon arrival.
